LabManiacs S3 E1
It’s been a while since we’ve had an opportunity to say this:
Welcome back to the Lab Maniacs!
Wow, that felt great. Our last gameplay upload was over a year ago, and a lot has happened in the meantime. Thank you all so much for sticking around and believing in us. Today, your patience will finally be rewarded as we bring you the first episode of Season 3! This time, we have it all: New equipment, new style, new decks – you name it, we got it. For this episode, we’re going back to the classics. We’ve got Luke on Gitrog Dredge, Cameron on Tasigur Control, Sigi on Chain Veil Teferi, and Dan on Shimmer Zur.
Decklists:
- Gitrog Dredge: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/22-12-18-gitrog-combo/
- Tasigur Control: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/tasigur-seasons-past-season-pastigur/
- Chain Veil Teferi: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/chain-veil-teferi/
- Shimmer Zur: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/tainted-shimmer-zur/
Gitrog Dredge has been a mainstay in Competitive EDH ever since The Gitrog Monster was released in Shadows over Innistrad. Since the initial build was made by razzliox, the deck has undergone a lot of refinement in the hands of Leptys, who wrote the Gitrog Primer and joined us for a Deck Tech. Even in 2019 cEDH, this deck continues to impress with its high speed, resiliency, and recovery potential.
Tasigur Control has been Cameron’s deck of choice for a long time now. This current iteration features Bloom Tender + Freed from the Real as a secondary win condition alongside some absolute format classics in Ad Nauseam, Paradox Engine, and Notion Thief. Overall, it looks to be more proactive than previous Tasigur builds.
Chain Veil Teferi makes another appearance after being gone for the entirety of Season 2. The big change for Teferi since the last time we saw him on here is that the deck has dropped some of its Stax elements in favour of a more control- and draw-heavy gameplan.
Shimmer Zur is one of Dan’s favourite decks, and for good reason. Zur is still one of the best Commanders in all of cEDH, and this Shimmer build is known for its extremely high Turn 4 consistency. A fairly new addition is the inclusion of Lab Maniac + Pact/Consultation lines, which have been quite popular as of late.
We know everyone’s been waiting for this, so let’s get right into it.
Please enjoy Lab Maniacs Season 3 Episode 1!
